Florida Roofer Makes Olympic Diving Team
Jevon Tarantino needed to call his father, Tony, back home in Boca Raton to tell him he made the Olympic team. Tarantino’s mouth dropped to the floor when he heard of the news and needed confirmation from his father that what he was hearing is true. It was.
Tarantino, 24, of Fort Lauderdale Diving, was named to the U.S. Olympic diving team Monday after a four-day selection trials camp in Knoxville, Tenn. Tarantino will compete in the 3-meter synchronized event with Brandon’s Chris Colwill, who secured the second 3-meter individual spot.
Tarantino is a graduate of Olympic Heights High School. How apt is that? He is also a full-time roofer, who used roofing to fuel his dreams of competing in the Olympics.
See the Sun-Sentinel news story for more background on the diving roofer.
