Is White the New Green? New Study from Climatic Change.
April 7, 2009 | 3 Comments
The idea of cool roofs and cool pavement bouncing more of the sun’s heat back into space has been around for years. It has long been known that white roofs in Greece and Spain keep buildings cooler –and help counteract against the urban heat island effect.
Until now, nobody has tried to quantify how much atmospheric cooling could be achieved. In 2004, three California energy experts started to run the numbers. At first they could not believe their eyes — they re-checked them and ran them in different ways with unambiguous results.

My Roof is Leaking?
February 11, 2009 | 5 Comments
You have stains on your ceiling. Water is dripping from a recessed light fixture. Your chimney has wet masonry. A stream of water is running down your wall or dripping from a window well.
If any of these events are happening in your home you must have a roof leak, right? An appointment with a roofer is made. He checks the roof and tells you that some patch work will remedy the situation. The work is done, the roofer is paid but you have the same problem the next time there is a rain storm.
What happened? There are a number of problems other than those associated with your roof that can cause moisture to enter your home.

Free Roofing Estimates: You Get What You Pay For
January 25, 2009 | 1 Comment
One of the first things a perspective residential customer usually asks a roofing contractor is, “Do you give free estimates?” This seems like an easy question but ends up being more complex than you might think.
A roof estimate can be as basic as quoting a price range per square foot or hourly rate to do replacement or repairs. This “ballpark” approach doesn’t require much time or effort and is easy to offer for free.

Consumers turn to BBB when choosing Roofing Contractors
December 10, 2008 | 2 Comments
Consumers are more diligent when it comes to choosing a Roofing Contractor, as say, a more impulsive purchase such as a used car. When it comes to a major asset such as a home, any major investment or improvement warrants special investigation into the companies who would provide the services needed. The consumer is showing more reliance on BBB reports when making any contractor decisions. Savvy people, those consumers.

The roof repair guy
May 2, 2008 | 1 Comment
People tend to get a visual when you mention the word roofer. Big muscular guy with toolbelt, steel-toed boots, hard hat & maybe just a little bit of roofer’s crack. Roofers from one country to the next are pretty much the same.
Half way around the world in West Papua — things are a lot different. Palm-lined tropical beaches make life a little slower and simpler here.
Rainy season takes its toll on roofs in this part of the globe. If your roof springs a leak (and it probably will) then you will be in need of services from the roof repair guy.

April 10, 2008 | 4 Comments
Finding quality bloggers who write about the Roofing Industry is challenging. Quite frankly they are few and far between. In the past few days of searching, I have come across several that were no more than spam efforts of cut and paste jobs from a popular free article site.
